Field Practice of Dairy Production

At Dairy Ecosystem Research & Development Center, Hiroshima University, crops are grown on land blessed by the sun, and these crops are used as feed to raise and breed livestock for the production of milk, meat, and wool. “Field Practice of Dairy Production” effectively utilizes this facility to provide agricultural science students with the opportunity to learn, through lectures, practical training, and discussions, about the process of producing milk and processing it into food within the cycle of grass, livestock (particularly dairy cows), and soil. Additionally, the program offers students the chance to consider challenges that need to be addressed and new technologies (such as smart dairy farming) from perspectives including the relationship between food, agriculture, and the environment, animal welfare, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
