
Practice of Smart Dairy Science
Dairy Ecosystem Research & Development Center, Hiroshima University, is the only university-affiliated facility in Japan that has introduced milking robots, feeding robots, automatic ventilation systems, and dairy cow behavior sensing systems. In Practice of Smart Dairy Science, students in agricultural and information science fields will utilize the center’s facilities to experience milk production and dairy cow management using these systems. Through lectures, practical training, and discussions, they will learn about the utilization of big data obtained from various automated systems and the application of information science to society. Additionally, the program incorporates perspectives on animal welfare and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing students with opportunities to consider the future of dairy farming systems.
Eligible participants
Students enrolled in agricultural science departments at national and public universities in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions who are affiliated with universities that have concluded credit transfer agreements with School of Applied Biological Science, Hiroshima University, College students and technical college students enrolled in departments other than agriculture at universities affiliated with Education Network in the Chugoku Area, and students enrolled at School of Informatics and Data Science and Applied Biological Science, Hiroshima University.
Participating universities: Ehime University, Yamaguchi University, Shimane University, Hiroshima Bunkyo University, Hiroshima University
Course period
Four days in mid- to late September (three nights and four days, Tuesday to Friday)
